FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What are your opening times?
Our opening times are split into two categories / office and circuit. Our booking and administration office is open Monday to Thursday 9am to 5.30pm and Friday 9am to 5pm except for bank holidays when we open at 9.30am to 5pm.
Our Circuit has a 24 hour operating license. This allows us to take bookings for any time; day or night, seven days a week. This allows a maximum flexibility with our opening times. As a general rule, we are open from 10am to 8pm every day unless our customers book an event with us that requires us to be open earlier or later.
Arrive and Drive opening times are only confirmed and given out at 9am onwards on the day itself except for weekend. Arrive and Drive times are given out on our answer phone at close of business on Fridays but it is always best to ring and check the answer phone message on the day that you would like to come. This is in case we have taken a booking in the meantime that would change the Arrive and Drive times given out on the previous day.
Is the Standard Circuit part of the Main Arena?
No - the Standard circuit is on the same trading estate but in a completely separate, unattached different warehouse - but only 50 metres away from our main arena.
What is the difference between a race event and arrive and drive?
Race events are pre-booked and are for drivers 18 years old or older.
Arrive and Drive is for drivers as young as 10 years of age and with a minimum height requirement of 4 feet 10 inches (147.5cm). It is paid for on the day and is a non-racing format, but gives you a computer print out of your own personal lap times so that you can see how much you improve and who, out of you and your friends, has the fastest lap.
Arrive and Drive opening times are only confirmed and given out at 9am onwards on the day itself except for weekend arrive and drive times are given out on our answer phone at close of business on Fridays. But it is always best to ring and check the answer phone message on the day that you would like to come, just in case we have taken a booking in the meantime that would change the arrive and drive times given out on the previous day.
(See paragraph 3 in the first question "What are our opening times?" at the top of this page.)
PRICES
Can I pay on the day?
For Arrive and Drive, Yes. For pre-booked race events, No. Arrive and Drive works by ringing on the day to see if we have availability. If we are open, then it is on a 'first come - first served' basis. You pay for your laps on arrival. Unfortunately, we cannot hold any places or book you in for a certain time. It is, however, possible to book an Arrive and Drive format for private use in advance.

Do I need to book?
Every race event that you participate in has to be booked in advance except for Arrive and Drive, which, subject to availability, is available for you to turn up and participate in without booking. Please note Arrive and Drive availability is only given out on a daily basis at the beginning of each day. Please see paragraph three in "what are our opening times" in question one.
Do you offer group discounts for race event bookings?
All our karting events and services are designed and priced so that we provide something for everybody's budget.
How many drivers do you need to come karting?
On Arrive and Drive:
You could attend Arrive and Drive on your own or you could come with friends. There is no minimum / maximum.
On a pre-book racing or booked Arrive and Drive events:
That would depend on the type of event that you would like to organise / take part in. There are various packages that we offer but, basically, you can come on your own or with a group of up to 500. Please see the 4th tab on our homepage for full details.
When do I have to pay the balance for my race event?
Private hire events:
The balance has to be paid on or before the day of your event. If on the day, it must be before the start of your event. We would, however, advise that you either pay the whole amount when you initially book or at least a few days before your event. This then gives you and our race director one less thing to do on your arrival and you and your guests can get straight into having some fun!!
Open race events:
Payment in full is taken on booking.
Can you pencil me in your diary whilst I start to arrange my race event and collect deposits?
No sorry. Unfortunately, we only put bookings into our diaries with payment when you are sure that you are ready to book with us. On each private hire event, we ask for a 50% deposit. On open events, we ask for payment in full. Demand for dates is so high that we cannot accommodate all requests for each date. Therefore, operating a first come first served basis is much fairer to all potential customers.
However, in certain circumstances, we can 'express your interest ' for a short period of time - please call for full details.
Can we add drivers on the day if we have a few extras?
For exclusive race events, it can sometimes be possible to pay for extra drivers / teams if you have a few extra on the day. Unless, of course, the circuit maximums have been met. See in the “further information” part of the booking you are interested in.
For open race events this is not usually a possibility as most open events are usually fully booked it may be possible in some last minute circumstances but generally this is very unlikely.
Do you sell gift vouchers?
Can I hire the whole circuit for the day? How much will this cost?
To hire the whole circuit for a weekday from 9am - 9pm is from £6,000.00 on the Main Arena, and from £2,000.00 on our Standard Circuit. Alternatively, please see prices for details of our usual event packages. If you wish to personally design your own race event and duration from start to finish, you can do so by clicking on the 4th tab at the top of our home page.
DRIVER INFORMATION
Is there a minimum age or height?
Yes - the minimum age for Arrive and Drive is 10 years of age and the minimum height is 4 feet 10 inches (147.5cm). The minimum age for race or endurance events is 18 years.
I'm attending a race event - will you check ID?
Yes, we have to by law. We operate the challenge 21 system for any driver who is 18 years of age but under the age of 21 they must bring ID with them. We will have no option but to refuse entry if we feel it necessary to challenge someone and they cannot provide their age with an acceptable photo ID. In such a circumstance a refund would NOT be given.
I look young for my age but I'm 22 - 28. Should I bring ID?
Yes we will have no option but to refuse entry if we feel it necessary to challenge someone and they cannot provide their age with an acceptable photo ID. In such a circumstance a refund would NOT be given.
I'm part of a pre-booked event but I couldn't make it / was stuck in traffic / had a driver not show up etc. Can I have a refund?
No sorry, once a booking is made/paid for we do not give refunds (much like booking theatre or concert tickets). We most certainly will have turned other customers away who specifically wanted to book and pay for your time slot, but we had refused them to ensure that we kept your event time free just for yourself.
When should I arrive at the circuit if I have a pre-booked event in advance?
If you are the event organiser, your arrival time for you and your guests will be clearly marked on your booking contract / form that you will have signed and agreed to. If you are not the event organiser, your event organiser has signed our booking confirming that it is his / her responsibility to make sure all his / her guests are aware and agree to all our booking conditions including the arrival time for your particular event.
Please ensure you are not late. If you arrive after this time (even by 5 minutes) this may have to reduce your time on the circuit. If the Drivers Briefing has already commenced, you will not be able to participate in the event. If you arrive too late or fail to arrive for ANY reason whatsoever you will not receive a refund, be able to postpone / defer / reschedule under any circumstances. Please see our booking forms for full booking conditions.

Am I going to fit in your karts? I am larger / heavier (or both) than average.
We're all built so differently. It is difficult for us to say for definite. If you are unsure we recommend that you arrange through our office to come down prior to booking and you can try our karts / suits / helmets for size. Refunds will not be given on the day for unsuitability of participation.
It is your responsibility, if you have ANY doubt as to your physical or mental ability with regards to participating in ANY of our karting options. To check it out with ourselves prior to you agreeing to participate.
I came last week. Do I have to watch the video briefing again?
Arrive and Drive: Not if you are FULLY recognized by one of our Race directors as having been before and previously sat through one of our video briefing, We have many Race directors so the race director that you have met previously may not be on duty during your next visit. If this happens, you will need to sit through another video briefing!
Pre-booked race events and pre-booked non-race events: Yes, there are no exceptions to this ruling.
Medical physical / psychological conditions / concerns: i.e. I'm pregnant / I have a bad back / I have a heart condition. Can I drive?
Your safety is of paramount importance to us. If we can be sure that you pose no added danger to yourself, other drivers or members of staff then we will allow you to drive please be honest and responsible. We would advise that anyone for whom this might pose a concern, contact us during office hours in advance of your participation of an event for a driver assessment
Anyone with a medical condition must seek written permission from their doctor before they can participate. We would however have to forward this and obtain permission from our insurance / health and safety advisory for participation - this is not always granted.
Refunds are not given on the day for no shows / unsuitability of participation.
As it is the responsibility of your event organizer (the person who has booked you into our circuit) to make sure that all participants have read, understood and agreed to all our booking conditions.
My son is only 6 but he's driven at other circuits and is very good etc. Can he drive?
No sorry, children under 10 are not insured to drive with us. The minimum age for non-racing is 10 years and minimum height is 4 feet 10 inches. The minimum age to race is 18 years old.
What if I sign to say I accept the risk so my 6 year old son can kart with you?
No sorry. There are no exceptions to this. The minimum age for non-racing is 10 years and minimum height is 4 feet 10 inches. The minimum age to race is 18 years old.
Do you have creche facilities?
Unfortunately we do not. We recommend that you do not bring young children to our circuit. If this cannot be avoided then they MUST be supervised by an adult, that is with you or your group, at ALL times and never left unsupervised whilst you are driving. We reserve the right to disbar any child (with their parent, guardian, adult supervisor) that is, in our opinion unruly or disruptive for safety reasons.
What is your drink / drive policy?
We operate a zero tolerance alcohol/drugs policy if any of our staff suspect anyone to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, they will not be allowed to drive. And furthermore the WHOLE event will be cancelled for everyone and no refund will be given to anybody.
Event organizer: please note, as the organizer of your event, any breach of any conditions on the day will stop with yourself and NOT with Speedkarting Ltd. It is YOUR responsibility to make sure that you and ALL of your guests are made aware of ALL our booking conditions as you will be signing to confirm that you have done so. To re-iterate: in the event of a knowing or “unknowing” breach of any of our conditions, by you of any of your guests the responsibility will lie with yourself and not Speedkarting Ltd.
Can I wear my glasses / spectacles?
If you need glasses to see properly, then yes you must wear them!
Is it safe / dangerous?
We have seen and been part of the significant safety improvement changes over the last 25 years of indoor karting. The safety barriers, especially the design of the kart itself, the preventative maintenance program, the safety briefing and video, the staff training, the protective race-wear, the strict marshalling, the general culture of safety first among all staff, all go towards ensuring we are as safe as we possibly can be.
All this said we have to remind you, MOTOR RACING IS DANGEROUS.
What is your level of insurance cover?
Our public liability is up to £5,000,000.00. Please note that this is public liability insurance and NOT accident insurance. Your normal vehicle insurance will not cover you for racing/driving at our circuit either. Before participating in karting you should carefully consider whether you should take out adequate insurance provision to cover you in case of any accident.
KARTS
Can I bring my own kart?
Unfortunately, no. Our Karts have been optimised by our team of mechanics to run at the best speed on our track, which allows skill over engine capability to maximise the driver's racing experience.
What type of karts do you have?
We run the latest specification 200cc Sodi karts they are all 4 stroke engines = smooth power delivery, easy to control. Very simple to drive, left foot brake, right foot = accelerator, no gear change or clutch control to worry about just put your foot down and go. All with the latest safety features such as full bumper wraparound system, and a fully enclosed rear axle.
How fast are your karts?
Our karts have been thoroughly tested by our team of full-time mechanics and have been optimised to achieve speeds of up to 40mph, as these are the best speeds at which to travel round our indoor track. Because of the physical dynamics of the karts and the environment, all sorts of factors can impede or aid the speed of the karts including weight, aerodynamics etc. However because Go-Karts in general are so low to the ground, they may appear to be travelling faster than the before-mentioned 40mph.
Are some of your karts faster than others?
All the karts are tested regularly by our team of full time mechanics and kept to within half a second of each other However if you do suspect a technical problem with your kart it is your responsibility to advise our staff at the time.

Do you have an on-site photographer?
No sorry. However all being well, we will take a group photograph at the start of a pre-booked race event (main arena only) and a podium photograph at the end this can be placed on a bottle of our very own "Speedkarting Champers" affectionately known as "Chateau Mersey": you can purchase as many bottles as you like to take away as souvenirs. Or you can pay to have the photograph emailed to an email address of your choice (main arena only) If this service is required it must be ordered and paid for on the night as we erase the data on the computer in readiness for the next event. Emails will be sent during office hours (main arena only).
